This is particularly important especially if you’ve had any problems with sleep. To look at things from a different perspective – I’ll show you the most critical missing piece that is impacting your sleep.
So if you’ve had any kind of sleep issues – whether it is short term or long term or if you’ve pretty much lived with the issue all your life. This may very well be what you’re looking for.
I have worked with so many people who have had sleep issues and I’ve also talked to so many other who are constantly trying different therapies or supplements or mattresses or pillows or going through different tests or trying other tactics – there’s always something going on in this area for them. And whether we like it or not, there are too many options out there for sleep solutions and we are trying to find a quick and easy fix. You may be one of those who is constantly bombarded with information.
What you may or may not realize is, how safe you feel in your body is going to affect the quality of your sleep. So Safety is the most critical missing piece of the puzzle. So, let’s say you’ve had health challenges at different times in your life, or had an accident, or may be you’ve gone through different kinds of trauma – whether it’s physical, emotional or anything else that you may have experienced in this lifetime. All of these trigger a flight or fight response in the body. I’ve also worked with clients who have been in and out of ER a few times. And what all of this means is the body is afraid to just relax or let go.
So when the body is unable to relax, you cannot have quality sleep – no matter what else you do. And we all how it feels during the day when the sleep is constantly interrupted – the energy is up and down, the moods are unpredictable and it feels like an emotional roller coaster. These challenges seem to get worse if you’re also in pain or if you’re working in a very stressful environment. It constantly feels like it’s one thing after the other and at some point you really have no control on anything that’s going on around you and you feel like you’re being tossed around. Right? So the key to quality sleep is restoring the feeling of safety in the body and in the environment. This is the place to start working on a deeper level especially if you’ve had a lot of health issues. Take the time to address the root cause of what’s happening because the moment the body starts to feel safe, you will immediately notice a difference in the quality of your sleep.
Now this might sound cliche, but everybody is stressed. For some reason or the other stress seems to be like the thing where it’s fashionable to say there ain’t anybody without stress. Unless that is addressed at the emotional level, it is another big piece that causes a lot of unrest in the body. And if you’re not feeling safe in your environment – whether it’s your work, or your home – another factor that is triggering a lot of anxiety and discomfort. Everything comes right back to feeling safe.
And one of the easiest things you could start doing right now is grounding. Yes, you may have heard of it and there are many ways to do it! The easiest way to get it started with from your heart. Place your hands on your heart. And then, just imagine a line going down through the rest of the body, through the feet and all the way to the heart of the earth – so basically you’re connecting your heart to the heart of the heart. Once you sense the connection (it’s okay if you don’t feel it the first few times, just trust the process and keep going) bring back the energies from the earth back into your body. This will take you less than 5 minutes and you can do it as many times as possible during the day. The results will amaze you!
To summarize, address whatever is causing health issues and deeper levels of stress, Get connected with the earth. And start noticing the shifts in your sleep patterns as you start taking care of your body.
